New Year, New Beginnings, well, sort of...

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I’ve turned this quote over in my mind countless times as we stepped into 2025. The truth is, I was exhausted—mentally, emotionally, even spiritually. 2024 tested me in ways I never anticipated, and by the time December rolled around, I knew one thing for sure: something had to change.

But change doesn’t happen just because the calendar resets. A new date doesn’t automatically mean a new way of life. If I wanted a different outcome in 2025, I couldn’t afford to keep doing the same things I did in 2024.

So, at the start of the year, amidst all the family gatherings and celebrations, I carved out time to sit alone. Just me and God. I needed His direction.

As a citizen of God’s Kingdom, my life is not my own. I am yielded to the King of Kings, and His desires take precedence over mine. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that God is a God of increase. He invests in us, and He expects growth.

During that quiet time, I felt the strong urge to evaluate the different areas of my life where God was calling me to grow. Not just vague ideas, but specific areas where I needed to be intentional about progress. So, I did something I had never truly done before—I wrote them down.

“Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.”

— Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)

For years, I had always been aware of what I needed to do. I would try my best to get things done, juggling responsibilities as they came. But I never truly planned for them. I never wrote them down. I had no clear roadmap to follow, no tangible representation of my goals.

A new year brings with it a sense of renewal—a clean slate. It’s an opportunity to start fresh, to approach old things in new ways. But if we’re not intentional, the excitement of a new beginning will fade, and we’ll find ourselves stuck in the same cycles, hoping for change that never comes.

We all desire progress. We all want growth. Now that we’re three months into 2025, take a moment to reflect. Are you on track with the goals you set at the start of the year? What habits or mindsets do you need to shift to see real transformation?

Change is possible. Growth is within reach. But the question is—are you truly ready to do something different?

Selah.
