Having a bad day…

Ivy was walking as fast as the muscles in her stubby legs would carry her, she was seriously panting. The braids on her head were sticking in different directions and she was sweating profusely. ‘I can’t believe I overslept!’ She thought to herself. She was ten minutes late, she looked a hot mess, and the … Continue reading Having a bad day…

Circles

Watching the waves remind me of you. They don't remind me of you because of how beautiful the horizon looks, or how pleasant the shoreline feels. They remind me of you because of what they do. Two Steps forward, One step back... Its like they are playing an endless game, tossing themselves as the wind pleases. They can pull … Continue reading Circles

Love Me Like A Child

Ebenezer Gwumah

Allow me to trust foolishly, believing that everyone is good at heart.
Allow me to cry when it goes wrong; I’m a man but hug and console me.
Give me a chance to play, and not have a worry in the world.

Music To My Ears…

On Music, The Gospel, and everything in between... I have become more intentional about the music I listen to. Now, I tend to look for the message behind the song rather than enjoy just the melody and beats. I have come to accept and understand that music is extremely powerful in all forms, and that … Continue reading Music To My Ears…

DZYADZORM

IMG_4470
This is the hour a poem attempts to make sense of itself
The hour when I conceive what’s to be birthed in the daylight
This is the hour sacred enough to strip naked
The stillness keeps my body raunchy and honest
Slumber is a lover at arms length with his back turned
I’m indifferent for it’s the darkness I want to make love to.
To moan at the caresses of everything unseen
And arc my back in submission to the moonlight
This is where I consummate my marriage to lonely.
Here, in this midnight hour
Hair pillow-patted at the back
Staring at the ceiling perceiving beyond everything it’s concealing
I become susceptible to every possibility
I’m not sure where I tripped
But this is where I fall
in love
with all.

An Unlooking God?

Interesting thoughts by Jude Sackey…. 🙂

judexpress

One of the most common perceptions about God is that He sits back and watches all the evil in the world transpire even though He has the power to stop it. I’ve heard countless atheists use the argument that if God exists why are people dying of starvation, being killed en masse in plane crashes and natural disasters and other kinds of evil. Basically, why should a good God allow evil to exist in the world He created? I will attempt to answer this question, not the question of the existence of God. I hope you get the difference. The popular (and correct) answer is that satan is the one responsible for all the chaos and confusion in the world. However, this answer is quite unsatisfactory because, as one agnostic pointed out to me, God is much more powerful than the devil and thus nothing can…

A doze of GOOD medicine

I realized how I easily take things for granted.  I never noticed how much the seemingly simple or little things in life meant a lotto me. I was down with malaria a few weeks ago and I missed a good night’s sleep for about 5 days in a row! Aside the lovely attention from family, … Continue reading A doze of GOOD medicine
