Happy Sunday, Fam!!!
I thought of making this post earlier last week, but theres an issue with the things I have to do, and the time I have to do them. What shall we do, but manage it?
In the spirit of International women’s day, I would like to celebrate nine amazing women in my life.
When I got into Ashesi, I would have never imagined I could develop such a cool friendship with nine different ladies. We are very different, and I can’t even remember how exactly we found ourselves in the same vicinity.
There was a group of us who were roomates on campus at Ashesi, and some of us who were roomates off campus. But whenever we were in between classes and we were in one the room(whether on campus or not), it was a party – a loud party. Among us, we have the quieter ones, and the louder ones – at times, we take turns spewing energy but at other times, each of us bursts at the seams with laughs and stories.
I particularly want to thank God for bringing each of them into my life because of how they have shaped my thinking and helped nurture love in me.
Abigail:She’s the typical “underground-plug”. I personally think she has spent a lot of time gleaming the word of God – she always has an answer for me when I ask her. I love how personal she takes her friendships. She places a lot of value on those around her, and that has taught me to love without inhibition. She’s really a lady but I thank God she has that ‘crazy’ part of her that always makes me laugh.
Amanorkie: (She’s popularly known as Miriam) I love having conversations with her! She makes me think! She pushes me out of my mental comfort zone. She is such a wellspring of uncommon wisdom and that is one thing I have learnt from her – having a teachable and learning spirit. P.S: She and her better half are goals for me.
Dorcas: This Lady right here! Selflessness personified! Dorcas really tries for the whole “Live like Jesus, talk like Jesus, love like Jesus” thing. Watching her is so inspiring. Her life has ministered to me on so many different levels! But what sticks for me, is her genuine concern for others. She loves to help others and hopes to impact the world with the love of Christ.
Dzidzor: Aside her angelic voice, Dzidzor’s heart is really huge. I admire her steadfastness in trusting God. Apart from the fact that she can jest to save her life; she is a really good friend. One thing we share in common is the love for beautiful love stories. I don’t know if she knows how much her face lights up, when a love story comes up. I’m just looking forward to the songs she and her person will be releasing together – lol!
Esther: Stee (as I insist on calling her) is my personal person! I have been such a blessing in her life, almost as much as she has been a blessing in mine. Since we were in high school, she has always been there to encourage and reprimand me across-board. We have really grown since we first formed our friendship and I look forward to the heights that we will explore together. Esther is a woman after God’s heart and loves to sing.
Florence: Florence!!!! She has taught me to smile through pain. She is a very matured young lady with a positive outlook on life. One thing I love about her is how she is constantly looking out for God’s hand in her situation. My friendship with her has taught me the value of gratitude in every situation I find myself.
Josephine: This young woman is very strong. When I first met her, I admired how principled she is, and how she always seemed to know the right thing to do(and do it), in spite of what she wanted to do. In recent times she has showed me that being practical about God’s word and promises is worth all the trying moments you may face. She loves to sing and teach.
Joy: This lady really lives out her name. Not only has she fully understood “the Joy of the Lord is my strength”, but she also lives it out boldly and fiercely. She is a realist who loves God and is passionate about people knowing God for themselves, as opposed to following the crowd. I foresee her being a preacher or reverend minister. But if I tell her this, she’ll say I’m giving her pressure.
Naa Korkoi: This young lady is a very special woman. She is compassionate and loves to teach. Naa loves to learn new things – especially concerning God’s word. Her love for teaching makes her very enthusiastic about learning, and asks her a lot of questions. I admire her for her bravery. She is constantly acting in faith and trusting God to pull through – I tell her a lot how I admire her bravery and wish I had some. You can call that righteous envy :).
These nine ladies are each a powerhouse. I love how we have influenced each other positively and redefine womanhood through the mind of Christ. I know life will get busier as the years go on, but it is great to know that there are some powerful women who have your back in heart and in prayer.
As we celebrate women’s month, this is to celebrate women all over the world.
Let’s grow together and continue to glow!
